Tea lovers will find their happy place at this charming store just off the Woodstock Square. Casting Whimsy is the passion project of husband-and-wife team Paula and Randy Aitken.
Inspired by a food tour in Chicago, the couple began experimenting with their own mixes, using only fair trade and organic ingredients. They've named their teas for their love of pop culture, like Liquid Schwartz an energizing blend of stinging nettle leaf, oat straw, and peppermint, and Dragon's Breath, a sweet-spicy blend of cranberries and hibiscus with red chilies and cayenne. Blending their personalities as well as their own teas, the decor is a whimsical as the names of their teas. Think Alice in Wonderland and Knights of the Realm. They also host "Tea & D" parties, after-hours events inviting people of all experience levels to play role-playing games. Casting Whimsy is a delightful boutique steeped in pop culture, mythic lore, and finely crafted teas.
