At Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Gurnee, enjoy thrills and spills on the dramatic Hurricane Mountain and dizzying Tornado. There’s more Six Flags Hurricane Harbor fun in Rockford, where water slide highlights include Typhoon Terror and Riptide Rush. If you want a big choice of thrills, Knight’s Action Park in Springfield is the place to go with more than a dozen slides, such as the hair-raising Devil Ray.

Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee offers an exciting indoor escape, including a lazy river and water slides for all ages. In Utica, you'll find similar fun at Grand Bear Resort, along with an indoor wave pool. There’s pirate-themed adventure galore at Pirate’s Cay Indoor Water Park in Sheridan. And if you want the best of both worlds, Pelican Harbor Indoor/Outdoor Aquatic Park in Bolingbrook offers both indoor and outdoor pools.

Float Your Boat: Illinois Water Parks with Lazy Rivers

Want to chill? Illinois’ water parks with lazy rivers are the answer. Splash Country Water Park in Aurora has one of the longest lazy rivers in the state, and you can float for hours. In Yorkville, Illinois' largest water park, Raging Waves, has the quarter-mile Kookaburra Kreek, complete with three bridges. And in Collinsville, Collinsville Aqua Park’s figure-eight lazy river means you can keep on floating around and around on an infinite loop forever… or at least until closing time.

Ride the Wave: Best Wave Pools in Illinois

We’re a long way from the ocean, but by heading to one of these Illinois wave pools, you can catch a wave without ever leaving the Midwest. Yorkville's Raging Waves Waterpark has the impressive Great Barrier Reef wave pool, with 25,000 square feet of fun. You can dive into the rolling four-foot waves of Breaker Beach at Raging Rivers Water Park in Grafton. Looking for waves to suit the whole family? Rockford’s Six Flags Hurricane Harbor has Tsunami Bay. The shallow end offers small ripples, which get bigger as you venture into out deeper.
